On behalf of the Residents, Staff and Board of Trustees, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Lima Convalescent Home Foundation web site. The Lima Convalescent Home Foundation is a nonprofit, nonsectarian, community supported corporation operating a full range of health care services for area adults and seniors.
The Foundation started in the early 1950’s when a group of concerned citizens sought to provide much needed health services for the elderly and chronically ill. This resulted in the construction of the Lima Convalescent Home, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit corporation, which opened in 1958. Lochhaven Apartments opened in 1986, providing a new option for Lima’s older adults who sought the security of congregate living. Lochhaven was the first facility in the Lima/Allen county area to provide an Assisted Living option, becoming licensed with the state of Ohio in 1996. On August 18, 2004 the Lima Convalescent Home was granted certification to provide Medicare and Medicaid covered services.
The Lima Convalescent Home Foundation is a unique residential and health care campus dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all the clients we serve. We offer independent living, assisted living, Alzheimer’s and dementia care, skilled nursing care, and rehabilitative care all in one convenient and attractive setting.
Rehabilitative care has always been an important component of the services that Lima Convalescent Home Foundation delivers, but it is now also a distinct program in its own right. Our new Rehabilitation Center is ideal for those recovering from a debilitating health issue with the hope of returning to the independence of their home environment. During this transitional time, Lima Convalescent Home’s Rehabilitation Center can provide the specialized therapy services that will assist them in regaining optimal function and strength.
The Lima Convalescent Home and Lochhaven Apartments have enjoyed an excellent reputation in and around the Lima community for many years now. There are many factors that drive a facility’s reputation, but I believe a major factor in our success has been our commitment to provide a stable, well trained staff in sufficient numbers to provide exceptional care and services to each and every resident of our campus. I know that sounds trite, or perhaps too obvious, but with today’s Medicare and Medicaid funding challenges, adequate staffing is no longer a standard that can be taken for granted when comparing facilities.
I hope you will consider visiting Lima Convalescent Home, or Lochhaven, before selecting a facility for yourself or a loved one. We would be pleased to show you our beautiful campus and explain the many special features and services our residents enjoy.
